Formerly two cottages dating back to the 16th Century, this Grade 2-listed listed property was renovated and extended by Hargreaves to form a single unique and spacious family home.
Works to the existing structure included stripping back the interior to its original fabric and restoring the daub and wattle walls and ceilings with lime plasterwork. Original oak beams were restored and renovated, as were stone fireplaces and other period features. Stone floors were removed and re-laid over under floor heating and new architectural bronze windows fitted.
To maintain the vernacular integrity of the original structure, a contrasting two storey extension comprising a steel frame with curtain walling was added. This part of the finished development exploits the panoramic views from the property and is finished with two Sedum “living” roof areas.
Extensive landscaping works were carried out with matching natural stone.
